KitchenLab K9 requires the disclaimer to be reviewed and accepted before use.
Build your own recipe
Choose a target profile, proteins, a primary carb, and allowed helper foods. KitchenLab K9 will build a draft recipe and keep food amounts practical.
Uses the selected dog's kcal target and derived macro profile.
Choose your proteins
Enter the amount you have on hand. If you leave a protein checked without changing the amount, the wizard assumes 500 g.
Allowed helper foods
These foods can be auto-added in practical amounts to help cover nutrient gaps before supplements take over.

Welcome to KitchenLab K9 - the DIY dog food calculator that will automatically ensure your dog's meals will meet health-condition requirements and AAFCO (The Association of American Feed Control Officials) targets for micronutrients.

How to use KitchenLab K9
Enter your dog's details (age, weight, health conditions, dietary requirements) on the next screen. The app will then make sure recipes are customized to your dog's specific needs.
You can build your own recipes from scratch, choosing your ingredients and we'll suggest foods to fill in nutrient gaps and automatically calculate supplements to meet micronutrient requirements.
The Recipe Builder also has preset recipes you can customize. You can enter the amount of meat you actually bought and the recipe will scale the carbohydrates and supplements to match targets.
Click the button in the ingredient list to add from a list of optional ingredients. You can save your customized recipe using the button.
We suggest using a kitchen scale for main ingredients but a precision gram-scale (at least 0.1 gram accuracy) for supplements.
For the supplements, assumptions are based on specific human vitamin supplements. Here's a link to our recommended supplements: Amazon supplement list.
Alternatively, you can edit the specific supplement values in Advanced Settings at the bottom of the Recipe Builder - but this is at your own risk.
We suggest a bone meal supplement for phosphorus, calcium, and magnesium, and suggest these formulations. Pick the one you will use:
For iodine, we use kelp supplements. Will you use:
