Is your dog a copper-sensitive breed?
Some breeds inherit a reduced ability to clear copper from the liver, where it can slowly build up over years and cause damage. For these dogs we recommend a copper-free supplement plan and avoiding added-copper multivitamins. This affects which supplement options we suggest โ you can change it any time in Advanced Settings.
โ ๏ธ Breeds prone to copper accumulation
Bedlington Terrier, Labrador Retriever (and Labradoodles / Lab-cross doodles), West Highland White Terrier, Dalmatian, Doberman Pinscher, Skye Terrier, Anatolian Shepherd, Cocker Spaniel, Kerry Blue Terrier and Keeshond are the most-reported. Also treat as sensitive any dog with diagnosed copper-storage disease or elevated liver enzymes.

If your dog is one of these breeds โ or youโre unsure โ choose Yes. K9 NutriLab keeps supplemental copper at zero and offers only copper-free supplement options. Food already supplies ample copper, so nothing is lost by this safer default. Choose No only for a dog with no copper-storage risk.

Every level hits the same AAFCO nutrient targets โ the difference is how many separate products you buy and measure per batch. Pick less complexity with combo products, or more control with single-nutrient items. You can change this any time in Advanced Settings.
๐ฏ Advanced โ 6โ8 products per batch
Every nutrient gap is filled by its own single-nutrient supplement: bone meal, calcium carbonate, kelp, zinc, vitamin E, vitamin D, potassium and magnesium โ each dosed individually to a tenth of a gram or half a tablet.
Best for: maximum accuracy and the tightest control over every single nutrient.
Trade-off: the most bottles to buy, measure and store.
๐งด Simplified โ 3โ7 products per batch
Combo products cover several nutrients at once, so there's less to buy and measure.
Best for: an easier routine โ the app still calculates every dose and checks every AAFCO minimum and maximum.
Trade-off: slightly less granular control than Advanced.

One seaweed-calcium powder (Animal Essentials Sea-Cal, Amazon .com/.ca) covers calcium, magnesium and most iodine โ replacing calcium carbonate and magnesium citrate. Zinc, vitamin E, vitamin D and potassium stay as simple single items. Every dose fully calculated by the app.
๐ Multivitamin โ 3โ5 products per batch, the fewest
Seaweed calcium plus one human multivitamin that absorbs the zinc, vitamin E, vitamin D and selenium pills into a single bottle โ typically leaving just bone meal, a pinch of kelp and potassium beside it. The app computes the capsule/tablet count against your recipe and caps it under every AAFCO maximum โ nothing is deferred to another tool. You'll pick the exact multivitamin product in the verifier next, matched to your dog's copper sensitivity.

Why supplements?
Whole foods alone often miss key nutrients. We use targeted supplements to fill those gaps and meet nutritional standards โ from the Advanced per-nutrient set (6โ8 products) to the simplified Seaweed calcium (5โ7) or Multivitamin (3โ5) stacks, whichever you chose.
You can still use the app without supplements, but most recipes will remain incomplete. The app will show you any deficiencies, but won't be able to fully correct them without supplements.
